Ferrari has announced it will be recalling some California and 458 models, totaling 206 units worldwide out of a production run of 13,000.
Ferrari told us the problem related to a finishing process on the crankshaft applied by a machine that wasn’t calibrated correctly. This can cause unusual vibrations, which can eventually lead to engine failure.
In the UK only 10 Californias and six 458s are affected, and Ferrari will be writing to all owners asking them to contact a dealer to arrange for the problem to be fixed.
Towards the end of last year Ferrari also issued a recall of more than 1,000 458 models after it was discovered an adhesive used in the wheelarches could overheat and eventually catch fire.
